Chiropractic treatments to make your life easier

Chiropractors specialise in the diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of musculoskeletal conditions.

The diagnosis of your condition will begin with a thorough case history and physical examination which will include orthopaedic, neurologic and bio-mechanical assessment of your condition. Normally that is enough to come to a diagnosis of your particular problem. Occasionally further investigations may be required, for example, a blood test, x-ray, ultrasound scan or an MRI scan to fully investigate a complex or long standing condition. Once the chiropractor is satisfied with the examination he or she will tell you exactly what is wrong and if chiropractic treatment is suitable for your problem or whether you need to be referred to another specialist. Once it is established that chiropractic treatment is suitable for your condition, the chiropractor will explain the treatment procedure.

Chiropractic treatment involves adjustments or manipulation of your joints to reduce pain, improve proper function of the affected joints, relax muscles and realign the spine. Poor posture, bad work ergonomics, sports injuries, road traffic accidents, industrial or non-industrial injuries can cause your spinal joints to lock, irritate or trap a nerve to cause pain.

Dry Needling

Acupuncture/dry needling works in this instance by inhibiting some of the body's responses to the problem, particularly muscle spasm, relieving some of the pain and thus allowing the chiropractic adjustments to work unopposed.

A specific technique for adjustment of the full spine on a special table with a segmented drop system.

The chiropractor's thrusts (using minimal force) initiates movement, and the fast drop of the table carries the joint through the remainder of its range of motion.

This is the most common non-specific technique used by most general practice chiropractors. It is a technique which may utilise more than one method. It will involve spinal adjustment, and generally results in a popping sound.

The Activator is a handheld mechanical instrument which is used to manipulate the joints. It is a gentle low force technique which is used by over 30,000 Chiropractors worldwide.
